We especially loved their African American History Monument – long overdue. You can see the way the laves were transported side by each and crammed in there. The way they were treated is horrible and the story needs to be told. The State Building had gone through a long renovation and it is beautiful inside. We loved the law enforcement memorial and it is very cool that the blue lights leading up to it from the walkway light up at night. Beautiful state capital.

We lucked out and met a historian from the project who explained some very neat facts about the buildings, the grounds, the project timeline and scope… lots of great stuff happening here. Wonderful walk around the grounds — I particularly liked the redoubts. I love getting to visit this historic site. I would certainly recommend visiting went in the area. This is one of our favorite hiking spots! The 2. It feels like an adventure but also quite safe and clean. We also picnicked in one of the many, shady spots by the lodge. After lunch we were a bit more adventurous with off boardwalk trails. We availed ourselves of the gift shop for a few items. We also picked up our junior ranger books, completed the activities during our adventures, and were then sworn in as junior rangers! We will return as soon as we are able!

It is a little more than 2 hours each way for us and totally worth it!! The park was so popular on the weekends, which included volunteers led programs. The ranger led programs are more concentrated during the peak season. The center was partially closed, mostly educational sections, however, they have a lot of stuff for purchasing and for sales. You could tell that this park is very new and geared towards urban people. I recommend to come for the firefly season. Would love to do kayaking programs with the rangers in this park too.

But it’s super popular and hard for accessibility. Took my sisters here for their first hike and their first National Park trip, and they had an absolute blast. It is safe to say that I have successfully recruited them into the world of collecting National Park cancellation stamps, and it’s largely due to the great time exploring this awesome park.

Such a beautiful place for a peaceful, relaxing Mother’s Day! We love exploring our state parks and this was our first time to this one. They have plenty of picnic tables and adirondack chairs by the lake, as well as several picnic shelters throughout the park. One of the picnic shelters was near where we settled by the lake for the afternoon, close to a nice, large grassy area for playing and playground equipment for younger children.

We didn’t hike any of the trails on this visit but they have several ranging from 0. My daughter and I enjoyed some canoeing – got pretty close to an egret, just missed a turtle, and thankfully did not encounter any gators. Although, we were told by the ranger that they are more scared of us than we are of them. Local treasure!

Well maintained and clean. My family visited for the first time yesterday. The lake, creeks and babbling streams were absolutely beautiful. Great picnic areas and plenty of options for family fun with cabin rentals, playground, paddle boats, canoes, etc. Plenty of space for frisbee or other backyard sporting options. Our dog loved it. Parking lot is right beside the picnic area so it’s very convenient to get supplies. We loved our RV camping experience at Poinsett!!

Lots of hills for people in search of more challenging trails. The staff are all very friendly and the campgrounds are well maintained. Perfect family fun!!! City park. Nice surprise. Lots of swans, large area with bridges. Beautiful place, great for walking. Lots of benches.

One of those places which catches you by surprise with how well it naturally fits into the landscape even as it defies nature.

It’s amazing what one person with a passion can do. We were so impressed by the imagination and detail in the topiary and the water sculptures. Unfortunately it was drizzling that day do they weren’t on, but they must be even more amazing. We were pleasantly surprised to find a restroom for visitors and a large parking area. A beautiful stop. The shrubbery is stunning. In addition to the beautiful topiary garden there are also a lot of beautiful art pieces. Why would I really enjoyed visiting this place.

Lots of bridges where you get to walk through nature. Great places to take pictures. We went awesome people jogging and exercising in this natural place. Quiet and peaceful as well.
